After a brief stint in PR, realising that women’s magazines and D-list celebrities didn’t interest her, Aimee ended up temping in Gardiner & Theobald whilst she figured out what she wanted to do with her life. She was then asked to join the Grad scheme, where within two year, she had her masters and was a qualified, Chartered QS. In the 2008/2009 recession Aimee had a child, was made redundant and went client side for Tesco Property where she mostly worked as a Cost Manager, and discovered the need for process, change management and programme management. After a second child she ended up back at Gardiner & Theobald in a different team as a QS. She then moved to Turner & Townsend who restructured at the exact moment she joined, meaning whilst she was hired by the Cost Management team, she ended up in the Programme Management team where she felt a lot more at home. After a while Aimee wanted to see more of the client experience than just projects, so left for CBRE, which as she joined, merged with Turner & Townsend. Three years later, she is back again, but this time with a knowledge of both companies and cultures and armed with a lot of great experience to navigate this next exciting chapter! Aimee’s career is proof that whilst things don’t always go your way, your can still move forward and end up where you are meant to be.
