The principal reason we are supporting the Inspire Me campaign is to help open up opportunities for women within construction and to ensure they have the same opportunities to flourish.
There is also a lack of flexibility given to women who wish to pursue a career alongside having a family and this needs to be recognised and accommodated too.
For many years, the TRAD Group has been at the forefront of promoting careers for women. One of our objectives is to achieve at least 20 per cent female representation at management and board level within four years, which will mark our fiftieth anniversary.
Women are under-represented across construction and scaffolding in particular. While the image of the work may be largely to blame, we find that at TRAD Group women make major contributions across the business.
TRAD will continue to create more mentoring and training schemes that give both women and men the chance to become operational heads within supervision and contracts management. The ultimate goal being to appoint more female board directors – to sit alongside the one we already have.
Our experience has shown that we gain significant competitive advantage by drawing on the different skills, ideas and perspectives that women bring to our business, and we remain firmly committed to helping promote opportunities for women right across the construction industry.
