CN Inspiring Women in Construction

The NASC is proud to be a supporter of the Construction News Inspire Me campaign.

The NASC President Des Moore, CEO of TRAD Group, has identified as one of the objectives for his presidency the encouragement and mentoring of women into senior positions, both within the NASC and the scaffolding sector in general.

He would like to encourage more women to pursue careers in the scaffolding industry, and to participate in the work of the NASC standing committees.

At TRAD women have been encouraged and mentored for many years and have gone on to excel in senior positions such as surveying and estimating, supervision and contracts management, and are now represented at board level.

Des would like to see this model adopted throughout the NASC membership and the scaffolding industry, and will be looking for evidence of its implementation during his presidency, and the years which follow.

It is fitting therefore that Lynn Way of Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding, formerly chair of the NASC South West region, has recently been appointed as NASC vice president.

This is a significant step forward in what has always been a predominantly male organisation, and it is hoped that it will trigger greater involvement by women on the many and various NASC standing committees and working groups.

NASC wholeheartedly supports this CN campaign.
